Welcome to the Power ON Visual Table Editor – What’s New documentation.

This document outlines all you need to know about the latest version of the software, the updates it has received. It will provide you with a summary of the changes, and by using the hyperlinks you will be able to easily navigate through the document to find out detailed information about the new features, including screenshots and videos where appropriate.

Features Included in this Release

To find detailed information about the use of features listed below consult the User Guide linked above.

New settings

Conditional formatting source column (Column properties group | for each column)

Giving the name of another column will copy its conditional formatting rules and apply the same colors on the current column.

Import

NOTE: This setting requires web service upgrade! Enable to upload xls, csv or tsv files to the source table.

Date format

Global date format string can be applied on the whole Table Editor visual

[Column name] Format

Global format string can be overwritten for each numeric column.

Fetch All Before Load

Turning ON makes it possible to exceed the 5.000 row limit in Table Editor. Will load every row from the source table. NOTE: Turning ON may cause a visual to be rendered much slower.

Apply Filters on Entire Report

When Enable Filtering is ON, the selected column filter can be applied on the whole report page by pressing the Apply Filters.

Use Import Page

File import will be opened in a separate tab. Can be used when the Import mode is not working due to authentication issues

New features/changes

  • Year can be changed with << and >> buttons on the date picker panel
  • Warning message when VPservice visual is not connected
  • Hitting Enter on a Date or DateTime cell will open Date picker panel
  • If the Enable Insert property is OFF, then the Always Show Insert Row setting will be hidden
  • In the case of an Excel Export (built-in Power BI feature) source table can be exported until 150.000 rows not just the first 5.000.
  • "Enable row selection" existing setting has new features for improved interaction with the Enable Filtering feature

Fixed bugs

  • Fixed position of Set All
  • Fixed Column width on Date and DateTime columns when the Set All is enabled
  • Fixed Height of the SearchBox
  • Fixed an issue with filtering and cell pasting
  • Alignments work properly
  • Insert button is now hidden when Enable Insert is OFF
  • Conditional formatting related properties will be hidden when the Conditional Formatting is OFF
  • Fixed Date and DateTime copy-paste
  • Rich text editor appears properly when the column is outside of the visible area
  • Fixed saving with renamed columns
  • Opening a new date picker will close the previously opened one
  • Fixed saving of timestamps selection (date picker)
  • Column width setting is working now on Date / DateTime column types when Set all setting is enabled
  • Default value functions read the values properly
  • Save changes and Discard changes buttons are visible when Autosave or Instant save is ON and Hide Save changes and Discard changes setting is OFF
  • SearchBox cell’s content can be copied from an added new row into another new row. (Inserted new rows before the save changes)
  • Inserting works properly if there is a write security measure among the columns
  • Cell selection bug is fixed after leaving an edited rich text cell
  • Validation for required columns works when the Layout is set to Details
  • Rich text works on inserted rows
  • Default value can be used in edited cells
  • The [Insert] button is active even if visual does not render any row and inserting is enabled
  • Alignment setting works for all column types when Layout is set to Details
  • Fixed a filtering issue with values which contain same numbers
  • Searchbox value now appears correctly after duplicate
  • Conditional formatting issue with paging is fixed
  • Fixed issues regarding selection type column and “Read only” or “Exclude column from save” settings
  • Links now open the right page
  • Fixed the issues with USERNAME() formula
  • Edited cell with default value only triggers modified state in same record when needed
  • Fixed an issue with appearing default value in the edit mode of a non-empty cell
  • Import is now successful if there is a DAX measure in the report

Installation Instructions

To update the Table Editor visual on existing Power BI reports to a version newer than v2.7.23 and to configure the VPService visual, please refer to the Knowledge Base (KB) article below (a Power ON support account is required):

If you are already using version 2.10.x you just simply need to import the newest version into you report and the visual will be updated automatically.

Incompatible Features or Known Conflicts

  • Import feature is not supported on on-premises setup with Power BI Report Server when NTLM authentication is used
